In New York City

So, I moved to New York City in 2017 and I’m pretty sure you already know that story(it was the first post I published on this blog). If you are new here and want to know that story, check here!

When I first moved here and in my first three years of being here, I didn’t know that New York City was a pretty big deal. I didn’t know that people really wanted to move here. I also didn’t know that it was a major place. I didn’t even know that New York City was a whole other part of New York.

I just didn’t know so much about New York City!

However, I have just now realized that New York City is a very big and major city! It’s a place where a lot of people want to live. It’s a place where you can just meet your favorite celebrity walking on the street(well, I guess only if you live in Manhattan). It’s a place where a lot of big companies are situated.

Simply put, it is a place where a lot of big things happen.

Honestly, it can be very intimidating sometimes but I think it’s very beautiful to live here and experience what it’s really like to be a “New Yorker”. I am just so fascinated by it and that’s probably why I’m so short of words and just going to stop here.

Honestly, the whole reason for this post is just to appreciate NYC and being able to live here. I know that NYC is so romanticized compared to what it really is like but just being able to live in this city gets me smiling. I don’t know, I just think about it so much and little excited firecrackers go off in my head.

I know I said that I really love Lagos and might want to move there in the future but it’s not looking so sure for Lagos right now. New York is really the vibe right now!

I’m just glad to be here and even though, I don’t want to live here forever, I can’t wait to have my own NYC studio apartment with floor to ceiling windows and so many plants and art surrounding my space..

Like you guys know, I’m always thinking of the future and constantly planning. So, as I go on in life and as I grow, I’ll come here frequently to update you!

With all that said, thank you for reading today’s post and thank you for being here on my blog!

Before I go, I’ve to say HI!

hii! How are you?! I really hope you are doing alright. I also hope you have been very kind to yourself:))

How am I doing? I am doing pretty okay. I have been quite busy trying to do a couple of things. I have been to trying to get through by reading list for the year. Overall, I am ok! Just glad to be writing here;))

*don’t forget that God loves you forever and that you should never say negative things to yourself!

The end of a great time; the beginning of a GREATER time.

Hii people! What’s up y’all! I really hope everyone is doing okay. If you are not, I really hope you are trying your best to keep your head up and I also hope that you have not forgotten that you have God by your side and you will always have Him by your side. I am always rooting for you:)

So, how am I doing? I have been pretty occupied with a lot of things. I am trying to finish all my school work before we get back to school. I am trying to reach out to a lot of people just to see how they are doing and to check on them. I have also been trying to plan for 2021, and get myself together and start moving and doing things that I need to do. Yeah, that is about it.

Let’s move onn

This is my last post of the year 2020, and I am really excited and all smiley. It has been an amazing year for this blog and I am just so grateful to God, and to you people who are always reading my posts, and those of you who follow this blog. Y’all don’t know how much your support has really impacted me. It has kept me going, and has made me try harder, and put in my best for this blog. Therefore, I am extremely grateful to and for all of you!

When I put out my first blogpost at the end of June, I did not really have a plan, and I didn’t really know what I was doing. I just knew that I am very passionate about writing, and I really wanted to impact lives with my writing; I hope I did so this year. Having a blog was not something I was very familiar with but God has been so good to me, regarding this blog.

I have been writing different things here, and every single time, I am still so surprised when I see that people are reading my posts, liking, commenting, and even following my blog. I do not and will never take it all for granted because you have all really made me smile this year. It is really amazing and special to me when people support me and I just thank God that people appreciate my writing, and support me. I honestly don’t know why each individual that reads my posts reads it, but I hope my stories, and my writings have brought a smile to your face, or even just impacted you in a very positive way. I really do hope so.

So about 2021, I don’t know what direction my writing is going to go but I am very positive that greater things are coming. I am also very positive that God is going to do greater and much more amazing things through this blog. This is just the beginning y’all! I am so excited for stories that I am going to tell, and lives that are going to be positively impacted through this blog.

One thing for 2021 though, I hope to be much more consistent with writing, especially on this blog. Although, I love writing, and sharing my stories, sometimes I just get into a funk or get really dissociated that I stop writing. I hope I get better, and become a much more better writer and even though, I still find it very difficult to call myself a writer, a blogger, and a poet, I pray that I don’t stop writing. I know that God has my back always, so I am very positive of the things to come.

Before I publish this post, I want to talk to you guys..

I know that 2020 was not the best year, and I know that we all dealt with so much this year that no one probably knows about. I know we all fought silent battles, and probably fell so many times. Yes, we went through so much but I just want to say that don’t let it stop you from flying. Don’t let your problems, and issues drag you down and bury you deep that you lose yourself. Try and fight for yourself! Try to keep your head up and keep reaching for the sky. Try and keep going for yourself. Most importantly, try and rest, take a break when you know that you really need it.

God is never leaving your side, so be rest assured that you will be okay. I know sometimes, it feels like we are going to die with our problems but I’m here now telling you that no, that is not going to happen. YOU WILL BE OK! I know this because God says so! So, keep moving and know that Barakat(me) is always here rooting for you and will always be here rooting for you.

Love you all always, and thank you for everything!

Three ways to stay productive as school starts again…

Hi people! How are you doing? How has your week been? If you haven’t already noticed, I made some changes to this blog. I know, I am always making changes:) It is all for the best anyway. I changed the name of this blog and I also changed the theme and that’s all. Anyway, my week has been okay so far. I have been very productive this week and I really thank God for that. In this blog post, I will be sharing three of my secrets to being productive with y’all. Stay on and keep reading!

Honestly, I really understand how being productive can be very difficult sometimes but no worries because we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Sometimes, we get very lazy or we just procrastinate everything we need to do out of habit. I hope these tips will help you to be more productive.

First, write a list of everything you have to do for the day( make a to-do list basically)

I know you’ve probably heard this one million times. I get it but the reason why it is being repeated every time is because it is actually really helpful. When you make a list of all the things you have to do, it motivates you to really do those things. You also remember that there are some things you need to do. There are some things you need to achieve. This moves you to get moving and start working. Also, the thing about making a to-do list is that, when you don’t do the things on that list, it makes you feel guilt. You feel guilty that you did not do what you were supposed to do. Y’all just really need to try it first. Just give it a trial and you’ll see that it is actually very helpful.

Second, keep your phone away from you for some time

This one works for me a lot and I am sure, it will work for you too. I know that our phones is one major reason why we never do the things we are supposed to do. The phone is a really big distraction and if you do not try to keep it away from you sometimes, I am afraid you’ll never get anything done. One thing I also know is that most of us are really addicted to our phones and we are worried about how we would keep it away from us. Don’t worry, you can definitely do it if I can do it. I can almost say that I am addicted to my phone as well but whenever I want to work or have work to do, I always make sure to put my phone where I cannot reach it. This has helped me to get a ton of work done. This method is so helpful, just give it a trial.

Lastly, think of your future and the dreams you badly want to achieve

This one is probably the best because it really motivates you to get up and do something. Please note that I am not telling y’all to start worrying too much about the future or start panicking, just put it all in God’s hand. What I am saying is that whenever you get lazy or start to procrastinate, just think of where you want to be in the future. This pushes you to start working and be productive because it helps you realize that in order to have that amazing future you desire, you have to work hard. Without hard work, you won’t achieve what you want. So, thinking of those dreams that you badly want to achieve moves you to be hard working. Just try it out and I know y’all will come back to give testimonies.

One last thing I want to mention is that you should always put God first in everything you do. Before carrying out any of these steps, make sure that you’ve already communicated with God first. God gives us guidance, so He helps us deal with any issues we have. He also has the answers to all our problems, hence why it is very important to always go to Him first.

I really hope y’all try out these things I have told y’all and I really hope it works for all of you. Thanks for reading! Bye:)
