Racism: WHY??

hi people! What’s up y’all?! I really hope you are doing okay. If you are not, please do not stop trusting in God and keep taking it easy! You’ll be okay very soon by God’s grace:))

How am I doing?? I am doing okay. I have been busy with a lot of school work and extracurricular activities but I am still living; I am just trying to take it easy;)

Let’s move on to today’s post!

What is Racism?

So, there are two great definitions of racism.

The first: According to thoughtco.com, “Racism is the belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to other.

The second: According to thoughtco.com, “Racism is discrimination or prejudice based on race.

So, why does Racism happen??

Why do we as humans react negatively to other types of humans? Why do we hate some people and love some, all on the basis of skin color? Why do we show hatred for someone we have never met before just because of the color of their skin? Why do we attack people for wearing proudly the color of their skin? Why do we hate on people for their uniqueness? Why do we abuse people just because they don’t look like us? Why does racism even exist??

Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?

It’s a question I ask myself all the time and I am sure it’s a question a lot of us ask ourselves all the time. I am sure it’s a question that ponders our mind and lingers in our head.

Why exactly?

No matter the why, it still doesn’t justify racism and won’t ever justify racism! No matter the excuses we give, no matter what we say we learned, it still doesn’t justify racism. Nothing can ever justify racism and hating on people just because of their skin color or their race.

Skin color is beauty. It is uniqueness. It is perfection. It is all the beautiful things in the world.

So why do we hate on it? Why do we hate difference and uniqueness? Why don’t we represent humanity as humans? Why don’t we show love as humans? Why don’t we embrace our differences and hug our uniqueness?

Why do we fail to realize the pain we cause others just by hating them for something they cannot change about themselves? Why do we reject people for something that they were born with and cannot change? Why do we hate people for who they are?

Honestly, everything that is happening today regarding racism is like history literally repeating itself. History that has not been really kind to people of color. History that has constantly forgotten a lot of its foundation. History that does not recognize the sweat and hard work of certain people. History that has constantly cut off the dreams of people because of their skin color. So why is unkind, biased, and prejudiced history repeating itself?

Why is it that as a society, we are really regressing, in terms of racism? Why are people still not understanding that we all belong despite the color that decorates our skin? Why don’t people know better today? Why are people still attacking people just because of their skin color? Why are we not representing humanity?

There is a lot of whys!

We all really need to do better with how we treat people who don’t look like us; people who are different from us. Please understand that it’s never too late to become a better person; be a person that loves and respects every person of every skin color.

If what you need to do is unlearn and then relearn, then do it! Learn what is right and do what is right!

okayy, that is all for today! Thank you for reading and leave a comment if you want(please be respectful with your comments!)

The silent whimpers and the deafening prayers of my motherland.. |Africa is bleeding..

Hi y’all! How’re you doing?? I hope you’re taking care of yourself?? I hope you’re keeping up with your mental health?? I hope you’re being kind to your health and to yourself??

Hmm. For me, too much has being going on. It’s a lot of crazyyyy stuff but like I always say, God is in control and He’s definitely not asleep. Today’s post is a very real post and I wrote this from the depths of the little left of my heart. Let’s just dive in!

Africa is going through so much right now. Well, not exactly every African country but a lot of countries are really going through it right now. So many people are dying and they are being treated like dangerous and wild animals. People are being shot like animals being shot for sport. People are leaving their homes and they are not returning home. People are saying farewell not knowing that it’s their last. People are crying and they are bleeding, metaphorically and literally.

If you don’t know what’s going on

There are thousands of very brave, strong, and courageous people going out to protest. There are people risking their lives to contribute to the betterment of Africa. There are also people doing their bit on social media, trying to spread awareness and use their voices to spread the news, to loud our cries. Everyone is doing their part in this fight to improve the quality of life of Africans.

Honestly, it’s very infuriating that we are still fighting for our lives and our sanity in the year, 2020. More than 30 years after the independence of many African countries. Now, I better understand when people say that, “it’s not how far but how well”.

The whole craze of the way the government rules in most African countries is already being shown all over the world. With so many people from international countries lending their voices and their platforms to this fight. We all now realize that it’s no longer Africans’ fight but it’s all our fight. Really, what joy exactly is living if more than half of humanity are struggling to survive?? What joy is life if more than half of humanity don’t know what it’s like to live a life where you don’t have to keep a gun or a weapon by your bedside every night?

Like every wise person has said, “we can achieve so much more when we work together”. For everyone who is not African, this is now your fight. You really shouldn’t sit comfortably in your homes knowing that your brothers and sisters that life has given you are dying. Though, you have to keep up with your mental health and take breaks when you need, you can’t keep being mute. Please you can’t! If you keep being mute, what people would you have when you need to show diversity? What people would you use to prove that you’re not racist?? What people would you use to show that you’re nice and that you do charity work a lot?? The reality of most whites or non-Africans is being challenged here and I’m sorry to trigger you but we have to accept the harshness of reality.

We always say that life is very unfair but should you really say that when life has become a matter of living or dying. Get up and talk! Speak and let our voices rise up to the heavens. Let our hearts sing to the heavens. Let’s stop whimpering and let’s start screaming. Let’s amplify our voices because together we are one. Let our prayers not cease and let it continue to ring out loud.

I think it’s very important for me to mention here, that we shouldn’t be attacking people for not talking about everything that’s going on(on that note, I really hope no one feels attacked by the previous paragraphs, it’s all unfiltered truth). For some people, all of these stuff is really really hard to process and some other people also have some sort of trauma they’re already dealing with. We don’t know everyone’s situation, so please be very kind with your words and actions. All I’m saying is that if you can, use your voice because every voice is needed.

Moving on, the harshness of our reality extends to the acceptance of people who are very care-free about the deaths of thousands. Those who turn blind eye to the sore image of a person’s brain scattered all over the floor. Those who are in positions of power sitting comfortably in their homes watching the havoc they caused by themselves. Those who insist that this fight is not their fight. Yes, it is very angering and frustrating but we need to accept it. We need not close our eyes, close our hearts, and let curses ring from the bottom of our souls. We need not take judgment into our own hands. Instead, let God do the judging and punishing, let’s just sit back and watch the evil ones get repaid with the actions they took stupidly. Let’s keep talking but close our eyes and walk past the evil and corrupt ones. Let’s keep being peaceful in our fight and let’s work on amplifying our voices.

This is the beginning of a new era. Although it’s heartbreaking that many heroes had to surrender their lives for this fight, I can smell victory because it’s not far away. Let’s rest for today and get back on our toes tomorrow. Let’s refill ourselves today and let’s get ready to be drained tomorrow. This fight has started because God has a reason for everything. This time, victory is definitely ours.

Lest I forget, mental health is still extremely important. From experience, I know how draining all of this can be. I know how tiring it can be. So please please, even though things aren’t really looking great currently, still pay close attention to your mental health. Also, try to stay away from social media some days because the news on there can be extremely overwhelming. Please make sure that you don’t lose yourself amidst all that’s happening. Please, I beg of you, take care of yourself. Please Please!

A quick prayer shared with me by someone during a prayer meeting I hosted. Father Lord, arise and fight for your people in Jesus name. Amen! Bye y’all 🤗🤗

A Bible verse to keep you going!

Love you all always❤️❤️

Our sad reality(Police Brutality) |#EndSARS

Hello Hello! How are y’all doing? How’s it going?? For me, I’m just really stressed and tired. Honestly, things aren’t really looking nice right now for me but God is in control. Don’t worry y’all, God’s got me! Anyway, today’s topic is a really big issue that hurts my heart so badly. Let’s just get into it.

Before I start, let me explain the story behind #EndSARS to y’all. The Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS) is a unit of the Nigerian Police Force. Over the years, SARS have been committing several acts of corruption and malpractice in Nigeria. Instead of serving as a form of protection to the people, they have been the ones terrorizing the people. They have been unlawfully arresting and detaining young people(youths) because they are wearing some type of expensive jewelry, using iPhones, driving expensive cars, and many more things. They have stolen and extorted money from young people and their family members. They have raped a lot of women. They have also killed a lot of people. All of these crimes and the Nigerian government has refused to do anything.

It’s just so unbelievable, unfathomable, and mind boggling that the people who are in charge of protecting us and keeping us safe have turned to our biggest fears and worst nightmares. According to Google, “ A Police Officer serves to maintain law and order in local areas by protecting members of the public and their property, preventing crime, reducing the fear of crime and improving the quality of life for all citizens”. The police are the people that are supposed to serve as examples to other citizens. They are supposed to maintain law and order but SARS is doing just the opposite of that. They are supposed to be reducing the fear of crime but all they are doing is increasing the fear of crime and even making it so much harder for us to live our lives.

It’s so disturbing that the police who are supposed to make us feel safe are the ones making it hard for us to sleep at night. By the way, in every Nigerian police station you go to, you will see a sign that says, “Police is your friend”. What kind of lie and what sort of deception is this?

However, my own question is thus, “where the heck is the freaking government”?? In Nigeria, people have been protesting for almost a week now and the government is yet to do anything meaningful and helpful. Our government officials are sitting in their offices or houses comfortably watching, with eyes wide open, the chaos and brouhaha going on in the nation that is supposed to be led by them. I really don’t think these people understand what it means to be a leader. If they did understand, they wouldn’t just sit down and be looking at these SARS people and their act of terrorism. This whole thing is just maddening. I’m just so embarrassed for and ashamed of these so-called leaders. I am also very disappointed because when these people were campaigning to be in these positions they are in now, they wrapped their incompetence in fine looking propaganda. Incompetence, care-free attitude and negligence at its peak!!

Also, apart from the incompetence of these people in power, they are also so freaking power drunk, especially these SARS people. I mean, you give a bunch of people guns and uniforms and tell them they have power and the next thing they do is let the power get into their heads. This power thing is riding them and the most painful part of it is that they have these huge amount of power, and yet they keep misusing it. The SARS have been given power by the Nigerian government and instead of them to serve as role models and examples for other citizens, they let the power get into their heads and they became power drunk. Honestly, same goes for the other people in the government. They get into the government and they are blinded by how much power they have and they forget why they are in power or why they have the power in the first place.

Our people are dying. They are not safe. Our nation is not at peace. Our government has failed us. May Almighty God in his infinite mercy show His face and help us through it all. Amen!

In all, please if you’re going out to protest, be very careful because they are even killing protesters now. Sigh! Please use your voice if you can to speak on this topic however way you can. Also, my heart is with everyone in Nigeria. Please take heart, the God we serve is aware of our situation and He will never ever abandon us. I also pray that God will enter our leaders’s minds and take control over Nigeria. Amen!

Love you all always🤗🤗

Loud white men and Quiet black women..

Hi y’all! How’re you doing? How’s life going for y’all? I hope it’s all going okay with you. For me, I’ve been trying to get things together, trying to stay on top of everything. It really has not been easy and yeah, I know it won’t be easy, so I’m just going and I’m being positive about it. Let’s move on to today’s post🤗

So, today’s post is about challenging racial stereotypes. I thought of writing this post because it relates to me and this boy that goes to my school. So let me give y’all the full gist.

That boy is a white Russian male while I’m a black Nigerian female. For me, I’m very quiet in school; I don’t talk unless I need to, I’m not really involved with people in school and that boy is the complete opposite of me in school. He’s very out there and he has so much friends in school. Although we are both “popular” in school, he’s much more “louder” than I am; like, he’s literally everywhere(I really hope y’all understand what I’m trying to say here).

When I was thinking of this boy, this whole story came to my mind and I saw how it challenges racial stereotypes. I’ll explain it now. A racial stereotype to black women is that they’re very loud and ratchet while white men are supposed to be the opposite. People are too ignorant to realize that race has nothing to do with the personality we’ve made for ourselves, for the most part.

Not all black women are loud and not all white men are quiet. Being loud or being quiet has absolutely nothing to do with race, although I understand where that stereotype stems from. Moral of the story is that a lot of us have built in a lot of racial stereotypes in our heads and it’s time for you to challenge that. Now you know that you’re just being ignorant, so what are you going to do to become the opposite of ignorant?

A lot of people generalize based on race and that’s really a backward way of thinking. The world has evolved, so y’all should start relearning and unlearning all those things you have been taught. It’s not too late to change the way you see something and to break yourself away from the chain of ignorance.

That’s all for today y’all. If you have any thoughts or questions on today’s post, you can just leave a comment. Bye y’all!🤗🤗

Yea, this is not related to today’s post but I just wanted to share this with y’all. Love you always🤗🤗

In marriages, are husband and wife supposed to be equal or should one be above the other?

Hi people! How are you all doing? This week has been a lot for me. I really have been feeling different types of emotions. I have been tired because I have been doing so much stuff but it is all good. I love everything I am doing. Also, I am really happy to finally write about today’s topic. I should have written this months ago but it is well. Anyway, let’s just get into today’s topic.

For a long time in most non-American countries, the husband has always been above the wife in the family. I think this family setting was formed due to patriarchy. The wife has always been less respected and honored by other members of the society. This family setting was also formed because of gender inequality. You would be so surprised that gender inequality exists most especially in marriages.

People argue that the man earns more, so he should be the head of the family. He has to be respected just because he is a man. Whereas, the wife is always treated like a child or even the maid in her own marriage; like, she is not supposed to work and that she needs to be in the kitchen always, just for her husband. I think people forget that the wife is human too. She should be allowed to work, and she should be given the same amount of respect as her husband.

Due to this weird traditional setting of the family, most men do not respect their wives. They literally treat their wives like a maid. They say that it is the wife’s duties to cook, and clean the house. They expect their wives to clean up after them and do everything for them. This is so wrong because both men and women are able to do these things. It is not a wife’s job or duty. Cooking is a basic skill that both men and women should have and both men and women should also be able to clean the house that they live in. The wife should not always be cleaning up after her husband because he is a grown man and should do that himself. Men really need to understand that their wives have a life of their own, and they cannot be at your beck and call every minute.

In all, for me, I think that even though the man is the head of the house, husband and wife should not be above each other in a marriage. One cannot be treated like a king, while the other is being treated like a maid. That is all for today. Bye y’all:)

Why do most non-Americans glorify America??

Hello my people! How have you been? How is it going with y’all? This week has been rough for me but in all, we give thanks to God and we move! I have not really been up to a lot of things. I have been reading, and preparing to go back to school. I have also been watching this series on Netflix and it is really nice, although it is kinda scary. Let’s just get into today’s topic.

To be honest, I have been wanting to write about today’s topic for a long time. I mean being a non-American who used to glorify America a lot and who moved to America because of how it’s being glorified, I sure have a lot to say/write about. Y’all are about to get premium gist!! Get your drink and your snack because you are in for a lot today:)

Firstly, the main reason why I think America is so attractive to a lot of non-Americans is because we think America is full of opportunities. It really cannot be denied that America is somewhat filled with opportunities but not really tho. If you have not been to America before, the opportunities you hear about would be free education, free healthcare, job opportunities, good security, good housing, and many other opportunities. I am sorry but this is the part where I tell y’all that most of these things are lies. America is not a land flowing with milk and honey. Nahh

There really is no free education. The only education that is free is the education before you get to college, like high school and below(mostly). Once you get to college in America, you have to pay even more than you would have paid for college in your own country. To counter this, people would say that the education in America is better. Hear me out, the education in America is not better at all. It is just that the government takes better measures regarding education, like paying their teachers regularly and giving out scholarships. To even qualify for some of these scholarships is another topic for another day. In all, America has good teachers, so does every other country. America is not really better in that aspect.

For the free healthcare, who told you so?? Healthcare ain’t free here at all, well except you have a good insurance. If you do not have insurance, which majority of people do not have, you have to pay for your own healthcare. If you see the doctor, you have to pay. To get drugs at a pharmacy, you have to pay. For surgery or any other procedure, you have to pay. I mean you would expect America to have free healthcare because it is a top country but it doesn’t. The sad news there is that a lot of people die because they cannot afford how much it costs to see the doctor. In all, it is well sha!

Honestly, you only get a good and amazing job if you schooled or are schooling in America. If not, you have to do menial jobs like security at a mall, cleaner, e.t.c. Getting a job is also not easy and somewhat stressful if you are an immigrant. Though it is not really easy to get a job, a lot of jobs actually pay well. The dollar rate is pretty high, so if you convert the money you earn in dollars to the currency used in your own country, it is a lot of money for the most part; that is a plus. Also, housing is not cheap at all. If you come here and you are not rich already or have some money at hand, you would have to squat with a friend or relative of yours at first because it costs a lot of money to rent a house. If you start working, as time goes on, money would start coming and you probably would now be able to afford rent.

One other thing I want to mention is that America is the place where you become fully aware of yourself. Like you do not become black until you get to America or you do not become Hispanic until you get to America. This basically means that America is full of different kinds of people, so you become fully aware of the fact that you are a black person or that you are brown. In your own country, it doesn’t matter if you are black, nor does it matter if you are brown but in America, it matters.

You also become fully aware of different things that you never knew could happen. Like bullying, racism, and many more. America, in short, opens your eyes. You see a lot of things and you learn a lot of things. If you are not careful, America will change you. It will change how you view things, it will impact your behavior, and many more. Although change is not a bad thing but if you’re not mindful, it can be a really bad thing.

Please note that the purpose of this post is not to shame America or hate on America. America is a nice place for the most part. There are actually some nice opportunities here, especially for children, teenagers, and young adults. America is also a good place if you want to go on a self-discovery journey. Changing scenery/location can help you to learn more about yourself. In all, do your research before moving to another country, it is very important! Also, if you are moving to America, know that you really have to be hardworking and have faith in God that your coming to America would not be in vain.

..On the issue of rape and sexual immoralities..

Hello! How are you doing? How is life going? I really really hope everything is going great with y’all and if not, don’t stop trusting in God. For me, I have just been alright(nothing much). Also, I have really been trying to maintain my healthy lifestyle because the temptation has been A LOT! I also finished re-reading one of my favorite books, which is “Americanah” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and I just cannot wait to write a blogpost about it:) Anyway, let’s get on to the matter at hand.

If you follow me on Instagram, then you already know what today’s blogpost is about. I talked about it briefly in the caption of my latest insta post. So, rape is the matter at hand. I have been thinking about rape a lot in the past few days, trying to make sense of it and understand why it even happens. In all my thoughts, man I have been so angry and exhausted because I just do not understand how some people do not see and understand that it is extremely wrong to force someone to have sex with you.

Like just thinking about the little kids especially, who get raped almost on a daily basis. These kids are just kids, they are JUST KIDS. It is so freaking inhumane to do this to them and literally anybody else. What do these kids even know and due to a person’s stupidity, they have to go through freaking trauma from a really young age. Honestly, I am so angry that I do not even know how to put it into words. I just pray that God takes charge over this issue because it is really really infuriating and heartbreaking.

What is the other explanation for rape, if not an insane addiction to sex that you would do anything to get it and also lack of self-control. There’s so much more to life than sex. Sex is not everything! Like just imagine, you are trying to pleasure yourself at the expense of someone else’s health/life. It is very very wicked and painful. It is literally five minutes of pleasure for you and a lifetime of pain for the victim. Raping someone is intentionally hurting them, can’t you see it? Just put yourself in that person’s shoes, do you see it now? Or imagine the same was done to your girlfriend/boyfriend or child, just freaking imagine!!

It is just really really sad because people don’t even feel safe going out anymore. People have to buy different weapons for self defense and protection. That has become the new normal and it is not supposed to be like that! Humans are supposed to protect each other, to help each other but it is the exact opposite. It is just like people do not care about other people’s feelings and emotions anymore. People don’t really care about being humane anymore and it is heartbreaking.

Also, do we all know what God says about sex?? Let me brief y’all real quick. 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 vs 3-5 says, “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God..” According to this Bible verse, we all should know how to control our bodies..this greatly speaks to people who force other people to have sex with them.. Learn how to control yourself in holiness, do not go after lust like people who do not know God. God doesn’t want any kind of sexual immorality; while sex is good according to God, God doesn’t want it to be impure. Sexual immorality is sin and sin is filth-this is against God!

This is why it is also really important to give your life to God. Become born again, surrender your life to Christ, ask for the Holy Spirit and start to live a Christ-like life. If not, you would be doing things that you are not supposed to do. Things that are against the Bible and things that are just plainly WRONG! With God in your life and also with the Holy spirit, you receive guidance. You receive knowledge and you gain understanding. You are able to flee/abstain from every sexual immorality with the help of God. I pray that God guides our hearts, opens our eyes, and help us to understand what is right and what is wrong in Jesus name. Amen!
